Angling Across a Million Acres of Untamed Patagonian Waters

The Vermont native journeyed 1,000 miles across New Zealand (from Auckland to Queenstown) carrying her five-weight fly rod, refining the craft her father had introduced during childhood. She was “stalking carefully,” she recalls, sight fishing along riverbanks methodically and patiently in the transparent-blue waters.
She’d purchased a one-way ticket to New Zealand – among the world’s premier fishing destinations – and stretched her $1,000 savings across three months. As funds diminished, she never contemplated consuming the fish she’d land on her line. Everything remained catch and release – this represented her artistic expression, not fishing for nourishment…..
